Breaking 5- A Nike Sponsored Event to do the Impossible

May 27, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
While breaking 5 is not as impressive as Kipchoge's attempt at breaking 2 in the marathon, I'm glad it finally happened. Although this isn't actually that fast, considering all the injuries, I'm happy about it. Also, it couldn't have been in a better setting. At AU, finishing and running the whole way with Satola, while being paced by alums like Jack and Jackson and current runners like Herman and Charlie. Thanks to everyone else who came out and paced and cheered it was super fun.

What facinates me the most is how unexcited I was post race. Of course I was happy, I just ran a 7 second PR, broke the barrier that I've trying to break since freshmen year, and did it in a non race environment. Yet on the ride home I found myself not yet satisfied and wanting something more. I definitely had more in the tank which gives me hope. The hunger for more will hopefully translate to XC and the summer training, but we will see.

Also ran a 100 post mile with Corbin, Oliver, Caleb, and Benji. Guess who one? Ill give you a hint it was the sprinter (not Benji). According to Jeff I did it in a high 13 which sin't top bad post mile and being a scrawny distance runner like myself.

Overall a very fun morning and time trial and again thank you to Anthony for making it happen and to everyone else that came out.
