Explored that nature preserve just off the coastal highway between Bethany Beach and the Indian River Inlet Bridge. I was feeling really good today for some reason. My legs just wanted to siiiiiiing and my head, torso, and arms were along for the ride. Fine by me. I listened to a sci-fi short story on Audible for the first 13 minutes but then decided to pull out the headphones and take in the sounds of the forest. What a joy to be on TRAILS again! The sandy-soiled pine forest kept the air cool and the breeze was lovely. I guessed I was probably hitting a 7-minute pace or better and when I got out of the forest onto the roads and turned on Strava, sure enough, I ended up averaging 6:48 for the last 4 miles. This represents a dramatic improvement from the 9 or 10 minute pace I’ve kept up on most of my runs lately. Got back feeling good and satisfied, not worn out.
