Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
It feels sooo good to be running with other people again who can push me and a challenging pace. Outside of the races I've run, I've barely had that for a year or more. Berenson and Griffin set an aggressive pace, but the Litmans brothers and Corbin seemed to have little trouble matching it. I too managed to match it, though only with considerable effort as we made a rather heroic climb up Klingle Valley trail back to the Cathedral Close. I was so caught up in my conversation with Griffin telling him about my research in Bosnia that I didn't even notice we were on such a steep incline until we were halfway up it. My sentences became more fragmented as we ran and I found myself taking longer breaths between phrases, but all of a sudden I looked around and saw we'd been climbing an epic hill for several minutes. I subsequently went back to talking and did my best to forget this newfound knowledge until we were at the top. Challenging but not torturous. It's amazing how a slow run under crappy conditions can feel horrible and a hard run under good conditions can feel so incredibly satisfying and empowering. The weather was hot and muggy and but I didn't seem to mind it all the much. My body simply rejoiced in feeling swift and powerful, carried along by a pack.
Tyler, here's the route: (I think I mapped the add-on correctly but I may be a block off)
