Exercise Type: Run
Weather: Nice and cool
Comments:
Really solid ascent this year. Last year, I did it "off the couch", which was brutal .... This year - having done a mountainous (and snowy!) 50k was clutch. Never felt tired or fatigued given how locked in you are at 40% grade for long stretches on snow.

From Helen, hit a good split to Red Banks (~12,500', 1hr 50min, 1.3mi's) - refueled with some cytomax and a bar and rode the ridge over, short grunt up to Misery HIll and then popped out on the Summit Plateau (13,800'). From there, you cross a big snowfield and then its a pretty easy summit from there. Good amount of people on the mountain - one dude offered me a pull of Whiskey which I gladly took! Burned so good!
Great annual Shasta Summit this year. It's a great challenge, but always worth it.
