Ahhh! its so beautiful!

September 5, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Okay, so I'd really forgotten just how gorgeous it is to run along the Charles River first thing in the morning. It's a route I used to avoid actually because it seemed so overdone. In fact, I was in a running group for several years that did it every single practice, but at night when you couldn't appreciate it. But today, having been living away for over a year, it was just magical. The Esplanade--the wide path and strip of park on the Boston side along Storrow Drive--is probably one of the most perfect urban running routes in America. John Biersteker '05 and I met at his house at 7am out Broadway through MIT and Kendell, over the Longfellow Bridge, back on the Esplanade, over the Harvard Bridge, and back on Mass Ave to my house, taking the secret passageway through the Central Square construction I discovered two days ago. My legs were tired but I didn't think about that much cause I was busy enjoying the river (along with several hundred other runners and biker commuters) and catching up with John about all the things. He and I are thinking about doing some cross country races this fall, maybe a marathon or two (okay not two), who knows? Got back did a thorough stretch.

Coaching advice of the day: If you're feeling meh when going out for a run on a day you don't have practice, distract yourself by running in the most beautiful place you know. Bring a friend.
