Shakeout w/ the Jernst

October 5, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Woke up this morning to find Julia Ernst on my front doorstep tying a ribbon in her hair. She'd apparently forgotten to bring a hair tie and had found this delightful piece of gift garnish on the way to my house. We paused at a 7-Eleven a few block in where she bought hair clips and the ribbon was transferred to my hat. Who wouldn't want a sparkly silver ribbon to jazz up their Saturday morning run? Even if it makes a bit of a rustling noise each step.

My calves were awfully tight after the back-to-back workouts Thursday night and Friday morning. I took a 2-hour nap yesterday afternoon but they were still tight all evening and no better today. We ran at a modest but not dawdling pace (8:15 average) which I think is just what I needed the day before a race. Rolled out my calves later on a pool noodle I happen to have sitting around my apartment. Had a good walk in the afternoon and relaxing morning kayak. All this is to say, I think I got in a good day of fitness without putting extra stress on the muscles I'll be needing tomorrow.
