Can't wait for Cape Cod!

October 18, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Went for a light run today through a gritty industrial part of Cambridge where Kate Yandell and Elly and I took on a tour of the Taza Chocolate Factory 8 years ago. Pace was pretty sluggish at first (nearly 10min/mile). I sped up without knowing it in the second half when I started listening to an Ezra Klein Show interview with former UN ambassador and human rights advocate Samantha Power about when the US should intervene in humanitarian crises and mass atrocities. She’s absolutely fascinating to listen to. Concluded my run at Flour Bakery where I bought a cookie and walked home. My quads feel sore but the lower part of my legs feel better than yesterday, and picking up the pace in the last quarter mile felt good. Got a briefly-interrupted 10 hours of sleep last night, so at least that’s on track even if my legs are still tired. Hopefully, tomorrow’s Cape Cod 5k XC Challenge goes well! They say its a fast course (see 10/16). The Cape is supposed to be beautiful this time of year, so I’m definitely ready for the change of scenery (see 10/17), even if it’s a bit of a longer drive from Cambridge (see 10/13). Plus having some good company should put me in a good mood (see 10/15); several of my Williams teammates are running it too! And if past years serve as any guide, this race should be GREAT for catching leaves!
