Lindsay-Booker-style run

October 24, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
I'm naming this log in honor of my high school classmate Lindsay Booker, who prior to senior year was doing a summer program at Harvard. Each day she'd wake up at like 6 or 7am, run, and then go back to sleep again until 9. Presumably she was trying to beat the heat. I can only aspire to such a lifestyle, but once in a while I still commit it by accident...

Met John Biersteker on my front steps at 7am having gone to bed past 1 (how bout them Nats!) and we ran our usual loop around the Charles River Esplanade and back to his place. It was absolutely gorgeous with the sun just coming up and the pace was sufficiently relaxed, except for a brief spell where I had us chase someone who went by us. As usual, there were a ton of runners out. You get a real sense of camaraderie running in the mornings along the Charles.

Afterward we hung out in front of his house chatting about the Nats and various other topics I don't feel I can go into here, and then I headed back home, briefly noting that my favorite color occurs on the trees at dawn as well as dusk (or something close to it). I got showere and then dressed and all packed up for work, but just as I was leaving my bedroom I had second thoughts. ... 3 1/2 hours later I awoke, still wearing my work clothes, lying on top of the covers. Good things teaching assistants don't actually need to attend class! Have been sitting in a sunny Indian buffet grading homework assignments and eating curry ever since.
