So glad I could be home for this amazing moment! Also, so glad I could be home for the original reason I planned to be here: a week for running with the GDS team. Even if today was not so much running...

[Anthony said you can basically hear about everything in my life by reading my log. Maybe he's right if you read between the lines. Still, I'm gonna find a way to keep every paragraph connected to running].

I ran a mile to pick up my mom's car during which I caught a leaf. Then I went over to Linni's house to eat pie. Then I went to practice where I indulged in my favorite non-running sport after baseball, figure skating, and leaf-catching: seeing which runners I could flip over with a gentle tap to the bottom of the foot while they're doing that hug-one-leg stretch and balancing precariously on the tailbone. Lucy, work on your balance!

Ran with Lucy and I think Dora counter-clockwise around the block, trying to convince runners whom we passed going the conventional direction to turn to the dark side and join us. Adina proved to be a key convert. Go to bed, Adina, it's States! Just before we got back, however, two indelibly influential captains converted me back to being a clockwise runner and doing another lap. They told me the wildest story! Well, it was wild when AnSo told it. Abby needs to work on her dramatic timing. I am quite relieved to hear they haven't gotten into any wilder escapades than that. We also added on an extra loop of the Martin's Volvo triangle, which is pretty wild too if you think about it.

Amelia told me she's gonna log today, after a year of surreptitiously reading other logs and almost never logging herself. Reminds me of how Joyce finally wrote a running log entry at the very end of her senior season. It's never too late, Amelia! If Moon can start doing it, so can you! [update: Nice log, Myre! Everyone should read it.]

Got home to my parents' house in time to greet the droves of children that swarm these two blocks of Rittenhouse every year on Halloween. This doesn't really belong in a running log unless I make it exercise and/or running-related, so I'll note that after handing out candy in last Saturday's alligator costume to countless Nats, witches, Avengers, Descendents, Hermiones, one Angelica Schulyer, and one Marie Curie (holding a glowing vial of radium), I went for a mile walk around the neighborhood to tour the elaborate decorations and ended up spending 10 minutes on Daniel and Tessa Lewis's front porch chatting with Ana and Julia Gunther's mom and petting their dog. Best cross country neighborhood ever!
