Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Had a 40 degree day on long run day-- how perfect! Snow is melting, though not super fast. Ran a circuitous route to avoid the mud, but skipped it on the way back. I had planned to do a little race pace section in the middle here, and rather surprisingly, I actually did it! Shins weren't awesome, but otherwise felt capable and will definitely go from 4 miles of it to 5+ next week.
By mile 10, it was getting dark, and I was having more fun on a run than I have had in too long. I was a little tired, especially in the quads, but more than that, I was free-- just me, my footfalls, the southbound geese, some deer, and the stillness of the arb. Getting away from the world and my cares definitely makes for a great run!
I think I'll hold at 12 or so next week, then do 13 at some point (Week 10?/in DC?) before the race, which is in 5 weeks or so. Feeling pretty good about it after this one.
