Christmas Trees!

December 11, 2019 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Ran through downtown, the West End, the North End, and the South End. All the ends! All except the East End... oh wait, I'm headed to London in a month. I'll get to run in the East End there! And maybe see a play. And eat a bagel. And hear some accents. All things one does in the East End, I fancy.

This run was suprisingly swift considering how much foot traffic I had to dodge. I was quite surpised that my 3rd mile got down to 5:30! I stopped for a while in Fanuel Hall marketplace to admire the Christmas tree light show and listen as speakers blared out "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and Jeff Buckley's rendition of that song which made up Abby Murphy's running log titles for about a month (Leonard Cohen's "Halleluyah"). Also enjoyed the Christmas lights in the Boston Common and paused momentarily to admire the Zamboni making its way across the Frog Pond ice rink. Towards the end of my run, I found myself on Chandler Street in the South End where every home it seemed had a Christmas tree in the window. In spite of the cold, I say it's a wonderful time of the year for night running.
