hustling form the LMS to home in the dark

December 4, 2019 (Night)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: cold, upper 30s

Comments:
A busy afternoon. Didn't run at practice, but instead I drove a mini bus of kids to Spike Night and back to school. Then I drove it back to the LMS and ran home as fast as I could so I could pick Leah and Elana up from Chorus at 8:30. I was hoping to change at the HS before driving down, but had forgotten most clothes, so ended up wearing good shoes, a boys size small uniform (tiny shorts and tiny singlet), a GDS CC windbreaker, windpants, and dress socks. Good thing it was dark. Didn't set off from the LMS lower lot until nearly 8 and so I was trying to go fast. Built pace up Foxhall and turned right onto W to try and take the most direct route I could. Left into the dark trail behind Field School At full speed by then and sacred leaf hunting grounds up to Nebraska and Wisc and 41st. I was working hard the whole way and I'm definitely not in the shape I was in a few weeks back. I made it home by 8:27 and thankfully used the bathroom before rushing out to get the girls. No time to stretch and I paid the price. Incredibly sore in left foot, hernia, hips, and even right hamstring. Felt like I'd run a half marathon at race pace afterwards. Still, I had a blast. Pleased with how hard I was able to push and pleased to have made it 4.5 miles or more in 32:00. Final mile split was 6:43 from Dominoes to home, and I was likely at or below 7 for the final three miles or more.
