Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Ran across the Manhattan Bridge to Flatbush Ave which I took past the Barclays Center and into Proespect Park. When I was planning this run, I was thinking that I would run down Coney Island Ave and then turn around at Ave H. But I must have mad a wrong turn coming out of Prospect Park because I ended up at a cemetary to the west of the park. I explored the area a little bit and then turned around. Felt really good on the way back and started to pound a little bit. Coming back on the bridge, a guy passed me–I was already moving probably around 6:40ish pace and so I was a little surprised. I stayed on his shoulder but he kept speeding up to try to lose me. We went back and forth like that for a bit, and eventually he gave up trying to drop me and I asked who he ran for. He said he was just training for a half marathon by himself, and that one of his teammates from high school ran at Haverford! We chatted for the rest of the bridge while continuing to cook (we were probably going under 6 minute pace by this point) and then he turned at the end of the bridge and I ran home. I felt good so I didn't really mind picking it up so much on the way back, especially for those few minutes with the guy on the bridge. When I got back, I ran up the 21 flights of stairs up to my grandparents apartment. Quads burned but it was satisfying.
