Quick run before the Led Zeppelin tribute concert with the Bro.
All in all it was a good show - but with that out of the way let's get into the details.
So for starters, everything was way too fucking loud. I mean absolutely insane - I actually couldnt believe it. Maybe that was on purpose because the median age there was probably 50-ish so they can just turn off their hearing aids and be just fine but holy crap I'm going to need hearing aids. Like at the beginning you couldn't even tell which notes the lead/shredding guitar player ("their very own Jimmy Page") was playing - it all just sounded like NOISE.
The bassist was clearly an in debt musician fresh out of college - he carried them with his multi-instrument prowess (Bass guitar, piano/synth, mandalin) but was really not into it like the rest of the band. It seemed like he was just there for the paycheck, or there's inter band drama.
The drummer was by far the mvp of the group. He was an absolute monster. He literally did a 10 minute drum solo in 'moby dick' which not only was my favorite song of the night but also an impressive physical feat.
Lead singer wasn't perfect. It's pretty hard to do a good robert plant but I'd say as the show went on I was more impressed. His stage presence had heart but I couldn't get over his single 'move' - a weak hair flip back with a little hop into the power stance, then bounce the knee, showing off his bell bottom jeans. It was pretty good but got a little old.
They had a projector going with cool videos of the band doing performances playing behind them - it was a nice touch and the sequences were surprisingly good.
Setlist was decent and they stuck to the hits and most of Led Zeppelin 4 which is fine and understandable although my personal taste is for some of the older stuff (hipster alert amirite)
All in all, I'm glad I went. I may have been a little disappointed if the show wasn't literally free. I think my brother had a pretty good time too, but agreed on most of my points here.
