Mars!

February 6, 2020 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Ran nice and gentle along the canal towpath westward to where the Regent's Canal meets the Grand Union canal and on a ways though Paddington and Maida Hill to North Kensington. Turn off and ran down through Kensington, meandering down pretty side streets when curving lanes of brightly painted townhouses in alternating sherbet colors caught my eye. Eventually, I stumped upon a statue of a Medieval Ukrainian saint-king who led me to the shade-strewn paths of Holland Park. At the bottom of the park I came upon The Design Museum, whose posters line the escalators to the tube, hawking a temporary exhibition called "Living on Mars." I'd been meaning to go there for some weeks now, and this seemed like as good a time as any, so I popped inside and spent the next 3 hours discovering what it would be like for human beings to live and design dwellings on the red planet. Then I ran another half mile to the High Street Kensington station and caught the underground to Edgeware Road where one can have the unique experience of transferring from the Circle Line... to the Circle Line. Since 2009, the Circle Line is in fact a spiral that passes through Edgeware Road early it's a journey and then terminates there an hour later after circle inner London. Train and map geeks, see what I mean here (it's the yellow one): https://www.citymetric.com/transport/tfls-new-tube-map-shows-walking-distances-central-london-and-highlights-gaps-network-1572
Not to be confused with the other Edgeware Road station across the street which serves the Bakerloo Line only. Bakerloo, I must say, is the most British of names.
