Raider tune-up

February 22, 2020 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
1 mile warmup (since I mixed up the order of events and only realized once there was about a half hour before my first race)

Wanted to switch things up with the warmup this time around so I aimed to get more dynamic warmups in and some longer strides. But the few heats of the mile before mine took up more time than I was expecting so I was sort of hanging around for a little too long possibly.

Anyway for the mile race it started off feeling real good. First 200 in 36 felt easy but for whatever reason I got scared hearing that split - even though that's exactly what I wanted. Two guys separated in front but I didn't think I could go with them (i could have). Felt the fatigue set into my legs right around the 400 mark again which is a real bummer. 800 around 2:26 by that time I was pretty much alone and starting to reel in the two guys who separated early. Remember thinking I should have been working harder at that point in the race but didn't really speed up much. I think my 1200 was around 3:41?
Overall feel like I could have done better, I'm way more fit than 4:53 - honestly didn't feel mega exhausted after the race although my legs felt pretty drained.
Just sort of jogged around for a while before the 8. There were so many heats of the 400 - I should've taken off the spikes and gone for a real shakeout outside but instead I was just sort of jogging around for a while.
Nothing really to report on the 8. I think the 400 split was like 63 or something - so I clearly died a ton at the end there.

Looking forward to a down week but really have some unfinished business here.
