Stayed the night in Oxford and ran from my Airbnb down to the Iffley road track where Bannister broke the 4-minute mile. The gate was locked but I spotted an athlete opening the padlock to let himself in. He didn't want to let me follow, but when I told him I was there to run in the footsteps of Roger Bannister, he relented. "Roger Bannister" - It was like saying the magic words.
