Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
First run to begin the next stage in training. Over the last few weeks, I stopped training entirely in an effort to give my body a much needed period of rest and to hopefully bring my knee back to its once (long ago) healthy state. Now that it doesn't hurt walking around my house and going upstairs, I've decided it's time to get in shape again.
Before the run, Oliver and I talked for a bit and with the new rules for Quests, we have devised a potential running themed Quest. The idea is from one of my favorite YouTubers named Beau Miles and his video called "A Mile an Hour- Running a different kind of marathon". If you haven't watched it, I highly recommend taking a look. The basic premise is that you run one mile every hour at whatever pace. Once you have completed the mile, you do tasks around the house and other things before the next hour comes around and you do the next mile. The first loop involves doing 3 miles so that every other hour during the day you one mile (24 hours to do 26 miles). So the plan for this run was to create a loop around my block that was exactly one mile. With Oliver on the phone, I began the run around my neighborhood. The loop I created ended up being pretty much exactly a mile give or take. The only issue is that no matter which direction I take, I will have to finish with the nasty hill that leads to my house. After running the loop, I continued on in order to get the time I wanted for the run. Definitely out of shape, but talking with Oliver on the phone was nice. I think I just need to get past these first 2 weeks and it should get better. The knee felt decent and it was definitely still not perfect but way better than it used to be.
To put it lightly, I miss being in shape and am excited for the next few months (if the knee stays healthy enough) of training.
