Bethesda Trolley Trail

May 14, 2020 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 70

Comments:
We ordered food from Pines of Rome and I drove up there, parked half an hour before it was due to be ready, and set off for a quick run along the trolley trail. I don't get on it very often, so the novelty was nice. Didn't feel particularly fresh, yet again, but at least I had the excuse of the strong mile yesterday, so I was at peace with laboring. Either way, as often happens when I have a limited time to run, and when the terrain is novel but known, I let myself build a pace. By my calculations, I turned for home after about 2.3 miles. I was at the southern end of the 495 overpass, just past Le Lycee Rochambeau. Upon turning, I realized I'd been at a solid tempo pace for some time. The return trip was certainly at a tempo effort and if the mile markers southbound were at all to be trusted, I was moving somewhere around a 6:45 pace. I never felt light or quick, but I knew I was working hard and I enjoyed the effort. Eased up once the bike path ended at Norfolk st and took it ins steady those last 3 short blocks to the car. I then failed to stretch or cooldown properly, and I ate far too much. It was a good end to the day. Time on the way out was 17:10 and time on the way back was 16:15. Final mile on the trail might have been 6:30.
