June 3, 2020 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: low 90s and humid
Comments:
drove to Matt's Rittenhouse abode and due to a phone call with my father which ran long and a traffic jam?!?! at Chevy Chase circle, I was a bit late and we set off around 4:15pm. Mostly Western Ridge and its offshoots until Boundary Bridge. Mat got me to take some lightly used (by me) trails up to Candy Cane and then we sought out and eventually found a good trail which took us out of that neighborhood and back down to the Valley Trail. Cut up via Wise road as I needed the most direct way home at that point. Western Ridge to Tennyson to Matt's. I nearly asked him multiple times if we could take stretching breaks. Several things seem to be going on. I don't feel like I'm absorbing fluids very well these days despite focusing on hydration. (More electrolytes needed?) I may be lethargic from the blood donation, although that never used to be an issue when I was younger. I am definitely over-heating quickly on runs and once that happens, it is tough to recover without water. Not really enjoying the suffering and it makes me reluctant to get our and run, but I'm not going to acclimate until I get out and run. Just need to listen to my body and be patient. Feet are also swelling up and unhappy during runs. Legs and feet are cramping at home a fair bit, indicating I am dehydrated.
