WS Trail: Rucky-Chucky to Cal-3 & Back

Used my Poppy Pass and drove down to the River to Park. Nobody down there! Which was nice. Last time I was here was when I watched Tyler roll into RC & cross the River.

Felt pretty decent heading out along the River - wasn’t too warm yet .... Once I got to Sandy Bottoms it started to feel muggy and man was it overgrown in there! I was pretty alert looking for Poison Oak. Saw a Father/Daughter hiker who informed me there was a “CA King Snake ahead” .... With the overgrowth - I was on alert again but didn’t see it (thankfully)

Pretty fun to run this section - forgot how nice it flows. Getting to Cal-3 drug on a little longer than I remembered. Watch read 4.58mi’s at Cal-3 (:48+) .... Inbound was significantly warmer at this point (11a). Did some hiking out of Cal-3 but then man, what a blessing that cruiser downhill stretch is to Sandy Bottoms. SB went better than I thought ... Popped out on the exposed double-track along the river and had to hike that initial, steep uphill section. Didn’t realize/forgot that there’s only 2 real, short uphill sections - 95% of it is either flat, douche-grade or downhill. Was able to finish well! (:49+ inbound)

Can’t wait to do the full Cal-St section ... gettin excited about Summer running.
