WS Trail: Green Gate to ALT/back

June 18, 2020 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 80’s .. Not too bad since there’s a lot of shade

Comments:
With temps heating up again (this time consistently!) ... Wanted something shady but not too crazy of a drive. The “horizontal canyons” sounded perfect. But man, forgot how much of a drive it is and how rutted out the road to GG is!
Nevertheless, good to be out there again (last time was??? ... Maybe 2014?) .., It all came back (even the WS memories!).

Got some beta as well: .75mi of downhill from GG until you hit the first legit uphill. 1.5mi until the first creek. 2.5mi until the 2nd creek. 3.14 until you can finally start jamming on the horizontals. 4.44 to the bench. 5.14 to the Aid-Station (:54) <—- that’s like M10 pace.

Coming Back? Super easy. No legit uphill until 3+mi’s! Makes you realize how “douchey” the grades are to ALT. So my motto heading outbound was: “You’ve gotta love getting douched” ... I see why so many people fall apart after GG ... Deceivingly “uphill”

The last mile I mixed in some hiking - was feeling good overall, but climbing legs still suck.

Gonna try and keep this routine: Hit a different section of the WS Trail each week - if anything - to remember! I swear, I feel like “Peter Pan” in “Hook” ... I’ve forgotten “how to fly!” ... Gotta “think happy thoughts” lol
