Exercise Type: Run
Weather: humid, 80ish
Comments:
Thunder storms came through the area in the mid afternoon and had brought temps down from 90 by the time I headed out. It was muggy, but manageable. I ran up Connecticut ave passing Kravitz coming south near the Chevy Chase, MD post office. His form was unmistakable from blocks away. I took Meadow to Oak and crossed East-West Highway and slipped through the locked gate to access the purple line construction site. Took that for 5 slow, gravelly minutes up towards the Air Rights building. Bailed out to the right without any trouble and then returned along Wisc Ave at a strong pace. I had been working with focus before the purple line portion. I tired quickly on that muddy, gravel surface, but I recovered and worked very hard for the final two miles. The time from Bradley to home was 9:17, coming up the brick path and through the church parking lot. I was working hard and from turning off of Wisc to home was 4:24. Felt good to challenge myself. Total time was 33:53. According to mapping technology, by pace from Bradley to home averaged about 6:35 per mile, which sounds about right.
