Exercise Type: Run
Weather: nearing 90 and humid
Comments:
Biked over to David's after morning chores. Quads were tight for the first 10 minutes until we paused for a stretch on Tilden. With David on my bike, I ran down Reno, Tilden, Park Rd, Porter, bike path, Tilden, Conn, David's. Stretching helped the legs loosen somewhat and I hoped to follow through with my original goal of reaching Mt. Pleasant Rd, but fatigue and heat built quickly going up Park. Knew I was in trouble by the time we were going along the bike path next to RC Parkway. Paused to splash and drink water at Peirce Mill bathrooms. Trudged at a slow mono-pace up Tilden and only got up the final stretch of Conn from Yuma because I put my mind on David's stories of Mexico. Just humbling to be so tired and heavy feeling for the final two miles of a 5 mile run like this. Despite drinking a large glass of water at David's by the time I biked home (also shockingly hard), I was weighing 5-6 pounds below what I typically weigh... I think I've been basically several pounds dehydrated since Thursday morning's run despite very deliberate effort to drink water pretty much non-stop. Can't seem to get my muscles to absorb it fast enough, despite Gatorade, chocolate milk, and other salt and electrolyte sources. Maybe time to try pickle juice?
