Polar Explorer

July 10, 2020 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Bike

Comments:
Anthony and I explored the trail named for my namesake, legendary polar explorer Matthew Henson. I think I did a book report about him for African-American history month in elementary school because he had my name and discovered the north pole, but I didn’t realize he was from around here. There is a little sign with a time when it was life and pictures. It was blisteringly hot but we did pass a woman walking a husky so it was polar enough in spirit. We were also also about as far north as I’ve ridden in years. The trail is gorgeous and eventually merges with Rock Creek, which we took home. Lots of boardwalks.

Strava claims I fell a hundredth of a mile short of 30. But who’s counting....
