The Best Run Ever

November 25, 2020 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Ran with Katherine Treanor and Emilia Kaslow-Zieve! My parents have asked me to start being more careful on runs since I live with them now and they're in an at-risk age bracket, so I tried hard to keep my mask on whenever the sidewalk was too narrow or the street too trafficky to maintain 6 feet of distance. I found that I can do any two of the following three things at once: hill, mask, talking. Combining all three gets pretty real.

Our run was full of delightful surprises, some of which I had planned and others which were spontaneous. I will note that our run included a particularly brutal hill workout around Livington and 41st street, exactly like the one we used to do in high school. You know the one I'm talking about.

There were also swings. And a climbing structure. A rock garden. A spinny thing. An 80m track. And a rather intense discussion of intestinal parasites. Emilia's mother told us a story before we left about a friend who had discovered a brain tumor in themselves while studying brains in med school. This was impeccable timing on her part given that Emilia has now reached that phase of med school where med students become convinced they are possessed by all the maladies they are reading about.

Apparently running down Ordway to Connecticut is super fast and exhilarating like going down one of those giant slides at Water Country USA. Or at the GDS lower/middle school. Not that we'd, uh, know anything about that.
