Rock Creek trails to view the setting sun on the shortest day of the year.

December 21, 2020 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 40s, mostly cloudy

Comments:
Leah drove Anna and me to Equitation field where we parked. Led the girls mostly along Western Ridge to just above the hairpin loop of Ridge Rd. On the way back, runners curse struck one of our party. We took a walking break and returned to a jog before I ran ahead at a brisk pace to retrieve the car and ultimately both girls from the route. Last 6 minutes were at speed. In addition to a pretty good sunset, we also encountered some Solstice worshipers who had built a spiral of fallen boughs on the ground beside the horse rink and who called their many children with the howl of a wolf. Nice to be running in the woods on such a winter's eve with my daughters.
