Took a nice hour long walk with Abigail H through Rose Park, up Rock Creek, and back through Lovers' Lane and Georgetown. Drove through Foggy Bottom and decided to park on New Hampshire Ave near I street. Took an unenthusiastic and surreal run along the edge of the "green zone" inspired by Mark's log from yesterday. Mostly followed the edge of the fencelines along I, K, and L Streets, but did penetrate as deep as Black Laves Matter Plaza which was open to foot traffic (Thank you Mayor) and turned back at H and 14th. Wound back through Foggy Bottom including the stretch of Constitution Ave from 18th to the River. Ran back to the car in the middle of Rock creek Parkway. Unbelievable to have all those downtown streets empty of cars, to see the waste of manpower and money as the country deploys not just tens of thousands of troops and police, but also a week's worth of dump trucks, idling snow plows, concrete barriers, plywood boards on windows... The insanity just has no end. So much waste... the cost of fostering hate, fear, and division... It doesn't have to be this way. Also, My legs felt pretty dead and my energy was low. It felt like a long run to my body, even though I only managed to stretch it out to 6 miles.
