Comments:
Spring is a performance enhancing drug. Shorts, sun, light breeze? Amazing day.
Might have gone a little too hard early. Ran a random 5:50 mile early, probably took some hills too hard when I should have dropped the pace a bit. Still don't really have a good idea of what marathon pace should feel like. But this was still a relatively comfortable effort. Found myself pushing closer to tempo effort pretty often and would have to consciously pull back.
Should have brought water maybe. Need to practice taking that at speed. Took a gel at mile 7.5 ish and it went down fine. Only mild stomach cramp about 2 miles later so a win in my book. Had a piece of toast with pb with a cup of coffee about 1.5 hours before heading out and that worked perfect.
Great progress.
Oh also screw my garmin HR monitor this thing is whacked out. I don't even know what it's measuring my HR was definitely not 117
Wore my thicker winter running socks and that was the wrong move. Got some blisters I think. Need the thinner regular socks
