July 3, 2021 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 60s and grey and incredible weather for July
Comments:
Left the island on a 9:55 Highline. Drove to NYC with pauses for a superlative sandwich in Providence and a soft serve Arctic Blast in Mystic. Arrived in NYC at 6pm. Got out for a run at 7 and passed Leah and Nate on 86th as they were returning from their loop of the reservoir. I looped it and was feeling pretty good despite the long drive. Would have gone longer, but had ordered Han Dynasty to be ready at 7:30. I did extend a bit by staying on the trail past a full loop to the stairs and coming back through the fields. Pace on the reservoir dropped from 7:50 to 7:20, although my feet are starting to have their familiar ache in the big toe joints as I run more and more in the new Saucony Guides. (Toe box too narrow? Cushioning too much or not enough?) Always nice to get a run in the city, but sad I didn't plan ahead to contact any hoppers or goats while up here.
