Comments:
I've been deliberately running only every other day of late as I notice mild pain on the top of my right hip the day after runs. Presumably this is because I'm favoring the right ankle or not getting full mobility from it as I'm. still less than two weeks out from my sprain. Today I ran Dad's 4 mile loop in 30:15, meaning I covered the 4 miles in just about 30 flat. It felt like a tempo run for the second half. I'm in this strange fitness place where I'm clearly not in shape, but where I don't want to run any slower than I'm running when I run alone. Splits were 7:53, 7:45, 7:16, 7:03, plus the little extra 20 seconds at the end. I am pleased that I'm running again after covid and ankle sprain and that I'm strong enough to do this without going into it trying to go fast, but I'm also irritated that my solid spring evaporated with the covid/sprain rest and that even though I'm hungry and focused, I still have a month to go before I feel strong again. I have kept up with my push up goals and am now doing 30 every other day (for the past few days). I should note that I did them at boat beach today, moments after the run and before my post run dip. I collapsed on #30 and had to give myself a 10 second pause before doing one more to make up for it. Looking back at it, I had spent 25 minutes paddling the kayak near Leah and Maya earlier today, so perhaps that contributed to the fatigue?

Goals for the coming weeks:
Get through this week with some nice runs with JB.
Week of July 4: Hopefully the ankle behaves and I can run 5 days to get to 20+.
Week of July 11: aim for 25 miles (maybe a long run?)
Week of July 18: 25-30 miles with a long run
Week of July 25: 30 miles+ with a long run
We'll take August as it comes. I'd love to be surpassing these goals, but we'll see. Keep up with 30-35 push-ups every other day and commit to the long run.
