Logging this one on Strava (and not just running-log) as it was noteworthy and my people might want to know. ;)
Drove to Dupont to meet up with Jacob and Jon E, but after 15 minutes and some loops around the block, realized Jon wasn't showing. Headed east along M and Mass and H and Benning until we'd crossed the Anacostia River. took the river trail down to S Capitol St Bridge and returned through SW, along the Wharf and cutting past the Tidal Basin, Wash Monument, and up VA Ave and 21st streets. Had intended to run 14, but it didn't seem important to extend for a random target number. (Although speaking of random target numbers, this did get me to 50 miles for the week, which is satisfying.) My lower left back was tight at the start, probably from the speed work on the indoor track yesterday (82 sec 400m, 200m recov, 2:40 800m, 400 recov, 2:39 800m). Legs and breathing were all decent today, but can't say as I felt particularly good. Jacob's company was great and the light rain and temps in the upper 30s made for good conditions, all in all. Felt like a long run, and the last mile brought my now usual hip tightness and some long run fatigue. Pace along Anacostia trail was consistently 7:30 on the nose, but we definitely started off closer to 8.
