Hudson River

February 19, 2023 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 40s

Comments:
A late lunch with Luigi and his family and a few miles of walking with Holden and Valerie in the morning. After a nap in the living room, I headed out solo and descended the steps to Riverside Park and then the Hudson River West side trail. Intending to go at least ten and passing Dad a mile in, I got myself down to Chambers St at the start of Battery Park (with a valuable bathroom break half a mile before that). Watch read nearly 45 minutes. Turned and returned, running almost exclusively in the bike lanes this time and with the wind finally mostly at my back. Intense winter sunset colors (Mauve, gold, scarlet, etc) back over my left shoulder and Jersey City. Pace felt quicker. Left foot (after tightening shoes at turn around) was fairly uncomfortable for the last few miles and left knee had been a tad achy off and on throughout the run. Outside of both hips were feeling fatigued again for the last ten minutes. Still, I greatly enjoyed the run, extended past the memorial so I could come up the ramp and then added on an extra 100 meters to reach 91 minutes. Map confirmed I reached 12 miles. Felt pretty good for the second quality day in a row. After a nice shower and shave we headed out to dinner at 70th and Broadway. Cab would only take 4, so I ran in dress clothes from 86th and West End Ave and arrived only one minute after the family, although a bit sweaty. Not sure I need to add that mileage, but it was likely just under a mile. Walked home later on tired legs, but that loosened me up well. A good day in NY.
