Working out with Little G

Had been thinking I should do a workout, when on Friday Ana Gunther apologized that we wouldn't likely be able to connect for a run because she needed to do a workout on Saturday. Her plan was 8x1km at AU at 6:30 mile pace with 2 min recoveries. I easily convinced her to let me join, and we set off form my house at 9am. 2.2 miles each way to and from AU track. Four strider and some leg swings and we went right into it. 8km of distance was a bit daunting, but with terrific, consistent pacing and good company, we just cranked them out, one after another, alternating inside lane. My mind alternated between feeling comfortable vs panicking that I'd never keep this up for twice the distance without recoveries. Still, unlike the other faster workouts I've done this winter, I never felt like I was straining and I could -at times- wrap my mind around this being race pace. Each cooldown took us from the common finish, up past the gazebo and back around to the start line near there.
