GGRF Celebration Run

June 10, 2023 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 80s and sunny, much less smoke

Comments:
Spent a couple of hours in the car transporting my children around town for the Pride parade before driving to Arlington to attend a GGRF celebration. Chatted with the Colaizzis for awhile and then we proceeded down to the four Mile Run Trail near Bluemont Park. Started steady and built into a strong tempo pace by the last mile. Ran with Tristan, Griffin, and Zeke Cohen. A handful of others were behind us and the son of the GGRF executive director went off about 30 seconds ahead of us once he realized we weren't going to be racing hard. Route was an out-and-back twice, with each portion being .8 miles and a slight headwind and uphill quality to the "out" portions. Conversation was great and joyful and in the last half mile I pushed it in fairly hard with Tristan while Griffin hung steady with Zeke. Not sure I could have run much faster if I had been wanting to. Not sure why the past few weeks have been quite so challenging, but I'm certainly not feeling good on any runs of late. We hung out beside the trail for a bit waiting for the others and Mia Colaizzi, before walking back up to the house and hearing some presentations, snacking on some Ethiopian food, purchasing some spices, and chatting more (including with Matt Ishimaru and girlfriend.) It was a very nice event on a very pleasant day. Good to work hard with others. If I'd taken even a brief warm up, I think it could have been quite a bit nicer, though...
