Snowy Streets -Blood Donation

January 16, 2024 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 30ish and snow on the ground

Comments:
Got out the door mid-morning after some shoveling. Basically ran the 4 mile loop in the counter clockwise direction from the house as it was a snow day. Roughly three inches of snow on the ground, and temps below freezing with grey skies. Not the loveliest snow run, but effective. Sidewalks varied in quality, but plenty of slush and wet shoes/cold toes. Wool socks helped. Pace got going pretty well and passing an older gentlemen running up the Mass hill kept me honest to the top. I'd also been encouraged by a Frenchman standing at the bus stop on Western shouting to me in French about how crazy I was to be wearing shorts. Had a good head of steam and was coming in from Tenley at 7:10 pace when I passed impressed sledding parents at Ft. Reno, at least a few Kesslers in their car, and a Leopold who may have decided to run outside instead of at the gym when he saw me. Always worth running in the snow. Oh yeah, and I took a nice fall forward when I forgot to follow my advice about cornering at Westmoreland Circle. A skinned elbow and maybe a tight left glute are the only lasting effects.Upper left back was a bit sore from sleeping on it poorly or hunching at my computer, but shoveling and falling didn't help it. Also gave a pint of blood after lunch.
