Rock Creek trails with Ettinger

February 19, 2024 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: upper 30s?, sun

Comments:
Drove to meet Jon at Peirce Mill. We took a leisurely paced loop up the creekside trail to the ford north of Military, climbed the old Rock Creek Ford Road trail to Western Ridge. Added a loop of Equitation Field and followed the ridge trail to the hairpin curve on Ridge. Then up Blagden, south on Valley Trail, and then Jon reminded me of the Crestwood loop and we wrapped through those, dropping him off at the bridge over Piney Branch before I descended mostly on trails back to the main trail and my car. Woods were lovely and snow had already melted. Temps probably climbed up into the low 40s and the sun was out. I wasn't moving fast, but the trails were the excuse and Jon pretended he was comfortable at the relaxed pace. Hips were tired by the end, and a late morning visit to Dr. Beck reminded me that some simple leg lifts will help with that. I may not be in the sort of shape I was in last year, but I am enjoying being able to run longer than an hour 4 days in a row. Distance might have actually been well over 7.
