Fun game!

July 17, 2008 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
This was a lot of fun and a great way to do fartleks with a small group- of similar ability. I handed out pieces of paper at random, one to each girl, with a number and an amount of distance for her fartlek. The paper also had an approximate time to correspond with each distance since we didn't do the fartleks on the track and time is much easier to measure. We started running at a moderately slow pace - then whenever she wished, the girl with #1 on her sheet of paper said "ONE!" and took off running at a non-talking pace. Everyone else started their fartlek as well. They were allowed to pass her. When the distance/time was up, she slowed down and everyone noticed and slowed down as well. Then we ran about 5 more minutes waiting for the next person, who could say go whenever she wanted. (She could even call her number 5 seconds after the former fartlek, which would be cruel and unusual!)
After everyone had gone, we went very slowly and ran through sprinklers and laughed! They were super tired.
