Comments:
I started off the rehab as usual with a 10 minute bike warm-up and then did plenty of stretching. I was slated to attempt a 1.5 mile run, my first run longer than the distance at which I expect to have serious pain. Coach wanted to watch me do this to make sure my stride looked fine and she sort of talked me through it. She had me speed it up from 8:30 to 8:00 pace so that my stride looked normal. As I approached a mile, I nervously waited for the knee pain to start, but it never came. Truthfully, my knee felt much better than Monday.
The Caterpillars: Last week, Bobby Voigt told me he was worried about what would happen if I am still hurt and joked that I'd be drawing butterflies on the wall if I am fine. I am not completely 'healed' yet persay, so I drew a bunch of caterpillars on the white board in the locker room. If I can continue to run, I will put them into cacoons and eventually replace them with butterflies. If I fail, the caterpillers will be lying on their backs with X's for eyes.
