1500: 4:35
4x400: 51.9 split
So there was one race that I cared about today and one that I really didn't give a shit about and would rather have not run. guess which was which. so in the 1500, i was seeded at 4:12, 10 seconds faster than my pr, which i already didn't think i was in shape to run. but the fast seed time put me in a heat that i had no business being in (sounds suspiciously like cincinnati freshman year...hmmm) was able to get out of the shit associated with a 23 person heat by getting out fast and sitting myself in about 3rd, with a 65 for the first lap. in reality I should've not been so aggressive and just tried to hang on to the back of the pack. i wouldve had a lot more success just trying to run even splits, because the last 3 laps were just a slow torture, and I ended up running a terrible time.
going into this weekend, my goal (besides the 800) was to run fast enough on the distance relay to get back on the fast 4x4, and on this one I was able to come through. led off the relay and handed off to phil. the handoff was a little rough and i ended up going down, taking out the runners in lane 2 as well, which probably added a couple tenths to my split, but i essentially equaled my pr in the 400, which was good, but more importantly, there were no problems with my hamstring, which i was kinda concerned about for this race. although i'm happy with my time, i still think i couldve been a little more aggressive in this race, especially in the first 200, and maybe gotten out a little faster, which im going to need to do if im gonna be able to run sub-50, which is the goal by the end of the year. i still feel like i was running too flat-footed the whole time and wasn't quite as fast as i couldve been, which is fine, cause that means there's room for improvement next meet
