Teenage Diehard Trains Amidst Red Rocks and Cactus Thorns :D

March 25, 2010 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: sunny and 55

Comments:
I took an "Original Native American Cowpath" straight up for about 15 minutes, and it eventually intersected with an actual path. Since I have no watch and obviously have no idea how long 1000 meters is, I did 4 4 minute pickups (using my phone clock to time) with 3 minute recoveries in between. It was really cool (and really spooky) being so far from everything...the sky was enormous out there!
On my way back down the Indian trail, my right foot grazed one of the many prickly pear cacti that were growing along the sides of the path. I got a cactus thorn embedded about an inch into the side of my big toe (through my shoe and sock). I took off my shoe but the thorn was so painful that I was afraid to take my sock off, so then I hobbled down the rest of the trail with one shoe on. Now the bottom of my foot is bruised from all the rocks...but it was an adventure so it's worth it! When I got back to the hotel my dad pulled the thorn out so it's all good :)
