in a land of mountains, a lack of hills

March 28, 2010 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: sunny and 64

Comments:
Arizona is home to the grand canyon and about a million other mountains, but runnable hills are in short supply. Alot of the roads and paths have long gradual inclines, but they go on for miles and aren't really steep enough to constitute a workout. After about a mile and a half (perfect warmup) I found a private driveway with a hill and a no trespassing sign. couldn't have been better! (running is for rebels anyway, let's be serious). So I ran the hill 6 times (it was probably about 50 meters) using the downhill as a recovery. (I know that this run was supposed to be like "find the hills and run them as part of your run," not run hill repeats, but given the lack of hills I decided to just go for it because it would have taken all day to find suitable hills). Because the driveway backed up on the road, I didn't get to do much striding out afterwards..But after the 6th hill I braved it and sprinted across the road and along the shoulder for like 150 meters. Then a mile or 2 cooldown.
P.S. infinite thanks to sperg for her 6 am motivational texts :) I couldn't have done it without you girl
