Quick track workout after classes. Debated for a while on what to do. I'm still limiting myself to ~3K worth of track work per session. I don't want to be on there much longer than that and risk injury. Plus I've thrown out any prospects of a fast 5K this season. Not going to happen without that solid core of miles/tempo runs that I missed in Feb/March.
Settled on 2x800M w/ 2min rest + 4x400M w/ 90s rest. I wanted to hit 2:20ish for the 800s. Fast but not super labored, and I wanted to be 64-65 ish for the 400s. But, I knew that wasn't going to happen today with 20MPH winds. It was so windy that I thought about pushing the workout back to tomorrow, but I figured I would get it over with because there is no promise that tomorrow won't be as windy.
800s felt fine, I could have gone faster, but I didn't need to. Took a long rest in between the 800->400 shift to throw my flats on. I wanted to make sure I was decently rested because I wanted the 400s to be fast and consistent. All of the 400s felt good. I went through the 200 in 31-32s every lap and slowed down as I came around the back turn into the wind.
Past two workouts make my fitness seem mildly promising. Trying to get into the track meet next week but it's turning out to be more difficult that I originally though. Biggest disadvantage to being an unattached athlete is trying to get into meets. It can be a hassle.
