Exercise Type: Run
Weather: Sunny Warm
Comments:
Was only running the 3200 today because we desperately needed 2 places in that. I warmed up a lot, running around the nice indoor track above their Gym, then running their nice xc course. I felt sluggish at first but once I got my spikes on and did some laps I was ready to go.
The meet was long lost by the 3200. Greg was nowhere to be found so I figured Kell pulled him out of it. I led the first lap of the race which was a pour choice cause I went out kind of quick (1:17). I kept hearing cheers for Greg but I figured the other team must have a kid named Greg. Lap 2: This kid is coming up behind me fast and I got kinda scared "Don't worry Will..." somehow Greg got into the race and had caught back up. He went by and I didn't bother going with him. I was falling off pace for a 10:40 by the mile (5:29) and 2 Gettysburg kids caught up to me. I decided to sit on them, they kept whispering strategy I think. Lap 7: The pace wasn't bad but I was feeling pretty good. I moved between the 2 kids to split em up. Around the first curve on lap 8 they tried to box me in, I went into lane 3 with 300 to go and took off. I all-out sprinted to the finish dropping the two kids pretty bad. My last lap was a 1:11 which was awesome but it means if I adjust my pacing I can run a much better time. Happy to second in the race as well as a PR.
Found a sweet rock with Greg afterward.
