This was absolutely the best track meet so far this season. So many people pr'd or came really close to. What a great experience to foreshadow how Districts will go. Sora had an awesome race in the 1600. A 5 second PR. Same with Lila in the 3200. A win in her debut race. Austin and Nick in the 1600 also had pretty major improvements. Taylor and Ryan in the 3200. I'm confident that Taylor and I can be sub 10 next week. Ryan, I can't predict what he will get since he is running so great right now. Callie and Mike, you guys did great in the 400. The list just goes on and on. Pretty crazy.

I definitely wasn't looking forward to the 3200 though. Last week at YMCA really showed me how strategic this race has to be. I finally got it and made a plan that I knew was reachable. It was to control the tempo of the race, I wanted some control over it. I was going to go out in a 5:00 min mile and try to replicate that in the second mile for an even split.

So for the start of the race I had to get out a little faster than I wanted because of the runners starting on the inside. Didn't want them to do something dumb, like go out in a 65. Settled into a nice 75-76 pace, battling with Taylor and Justin. We finished the first mile in 5:01 and that was pretty cool. I let Justin and Taylor battle it out the next couple laps so I could save some energy for the last bit. It was really cool running with Taylor in the lead pack. So with about 300 to go I passed Justin, which I was planning on doing the whole race. There is nothing like being passed with less than a lap to go to completely mess you up. From there it was just 200 and that's about it. Ran two even splits.

This whole race was a major test run for what I have to do next week at districts. I have to stick to a plan to succeed. I really wish that I could have ran the 1600, but I am happy with the results.
