drinking at the track (mile PR!!)

procrastinated all day...

finally left at about 10pm to go do a track workout... only to find a bunch of rowdy people drinking at the track post soccer game!!? Figured that would be to distracting so I grudgingly ran my 5 my loop instead. Headed back by the track and they were gone so I talked myself into staying...

I think the long warm up is the way to go before a track work out.. I felt way looser and ready for a mile push after a short run. Did some 200s as additional speed warm-up.

Usually I start out moderate, go conservative second lap in and then ride the adrenaline rush at the finish. This time around I decided to gun it from the start and hope I could finish.
1:10 + 1:12 first and second lap killed me. Its weird to get a PR with such horrible splits. I can't help but think that "smarter" running would get me a faster mile.. maybe we'll see tomorrow.
1:21, 1:24 third and fourth lap... felt horrible. My teeth hurt and my throat tasted like metal. Ah running... why do I do this again?

little disappointed I was so close to my goal.. but at this point a few seconds is still a lot to drop.
