Comments:
Well what can i say it's another start to another grueling race season started early this time. was in the dark on how well i'd do. got a sweaty warm up in and did a thorough stretch of all the essentials. Then did drills and leg swings to pass the time and keep loose, warmed up a lil early this time but not too bad. ate half a Gu pack, strawberry-banana 15 prior to start of race. i think i almost had everything timed perfectly. then took the headphones off and went outside to finish with strides. i took a few to get my body feelin primed. again it was really hot. the first mile was a little rough. 5:54 was our first split. then halfway through the second mile i pulled away from the compitition and started workin harder, it felt like i was keepin pace but ended up running the second mile in 5:24, not bad. the third mile was hard as expected. it was up a long incline and i kept pushin as hard as i could. in this phase of training i just tried to keep pace as best i could, i felt that i had the race won as long as i just kept pace so i didn't try to overexcert myself. third mile split was 5:29, really good considering every aspect of not training for long and the weather. i crossed the finish like feeling exhausted in a 17:25. 5 seconds faster than what i wanted to run so i was well pleased, not to mension a first place finish which is always good. cooled down with a slow mile didn't keep time was probly a 9 minute mile or so lol, David an i were pretty beat down from the race.
