RUN OF THE CENTURY

June 23, 2010 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: hot, humid, then hard rain, lightning, tornados

Comments:
so i thought friday was most intense run ever? THIS ONE TOPPED IT! i got home from school only to see thunderstorm warnings and i was pissed cause i thought id have to miss out on another day. my mom said it looked like it was going north of us, so i told her where i was going in case it started getting worse she could come find me. started off really slow, sore from yesterdays hills. at the turnaround point, i looked to my left and there was a wall of black clouds headed directly towards me. i thought to myself that i could beat it as long as i could get out of the prairie before getting struck by lightning. i was about 200 meters from the end of the prairie when the rain started coming, felt like pins and needles on my skin. kept trucking. eventually the rain was coming down so hard that i couldnt see 10 feet in front of me. the rain was getting in my eyes and messing up my contacts. worst storm of the season, and i was running in it. about 2 miles from home, i dodged a couple flying metal street signs and heard the tornado sirens turn on. nothing gets you on your horse faster than tornado sirens. used whatever last bit of energy to get home. my mom showed up in her car about a half a mile from my house but i just said forget it, im close enough. this run will never be topped, scariest run of my life....why does this always happen on my easy day?
