I struggled with this and got dropped by Dave and Chicago Chris with about a mile left. Despite not having the mental strength and physical conditioning to stay with them, I did manage to keep hold myself together and not have a total meltdown. Even though I was behind, I wasn't really running much slower than they were. Dave and Chris had to hesitate because of trafic for a half second or so and I made up some ground. I managed to speed up some on the last half mile and we finished together. My heart rate was 192 -- NOT what I want to see, especially for my down week!
Dave spent a good portion of the cooldown trying to convince me I still had a good workout and he has a point that I managed to come back up to finish with him and Chris. However, I still see the bottom line that I struggled to run still slower than I'd like. I'm not in very good shape right now. My mental state wasn't very good either.
For whatever reason, my knee was bothering me warming up and cooling down way more than it should be.
