The day i died

September 15, 2008 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Sunny

Comments:
Everyone can go to practice and run for miles, this weekend i found out that it really takes strength to compete for miles. There is an unexplicable difference between the two. You run the same distance but when you compete your feelings change. This weekend was amazing, on the bus ride there i learned how to play scum and pinacle, when we ran the course that same day i thought it went on forever and the hills were huge. when i was half way through i thought i was going to die...i couldnt breathe, but then coach liz stayed with me so i couldnt stop now. she gave me tips and encouragement on how to run each part of the race. if it hadn't been for her i would have defenately walked more than half of the distance. Dinner was delicious and i must say that taking a shower in a locker room was a new experience. Not to mention the freezing ice bath. The day of the race i woke up feeling like crap i had a runny nose and maybe a fever. I tried not to make a big deal out of it. The time to race came and i was as nervous as hell, my nose kept running. we started and i should have gone faster but i got caught behind a girl that wasnt going too fast. Everything was going well, i felt confident cuz i knew where the course was going. all of a sudden luck decided to leave my side:O my knees began to hurt and i began to slow down, frustraition and anger flooded me and i just wanted to stop right there and cry. Then i remembered that my goal was to not walk no matter what, to keep going and for once in my life finish a 5k. I kept going slower but i kept going, all i was concentraiting on was putting one foot infront of the other. There came times when i wanted to walk so bad but not only did i remember the day before and coach liz's advise but everyone was cheering for me and that helped immensely. I came to the end and felt proud, though i had gotten a slow time i had not walked and i finished it felt amazing.
